Buttons indicate the choices that are offered to the viewers. These buttons appear on the screens of the viewers, working to direct the script in different directions, depending on the outcomes and consequences of that particular choice.
Buttons are inserted to the end of segments through clicking the Button icon on the upper right hand corner of the screen. Texts are inserted into each button by clicking on the desired button, under the Inspect tab on the right-hand side. It is recommended to keep these texts limited to one word or a short phrase as they appear on the screen of the viewers for a limited time.
Buttons can also be inserted through the Menu Bar by clicking "Document ▸ Insert Action ▸ Insert Button".
Default action is the action that is assigned when the viewer does not make a choice, or is too late to make one. When this occurs, the script continues with the segment that is linked to the default action button. The default action is represented by the half circle on the bottom of each segment.
Default actions can also be assigned to buttons, meaning that choosing the designated default action button or not making any choices both lead to the same segment. This can be done through clicking a button and enabling "Use as default action" located below the text box under the Inspect tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
Default actions can be moved to the left or right side corner of the segment through the Default Action Position button under the Inspect tab.
If the visibility of a button (to the viewer) is dependent on a certain condition, this condition can be enabled through selecting the button and typing in the condition in the Enabled Condition box under the Inspect tab on the right side of the screen (also see Conditional Branch Points).
